Belle Epoque Every January in Kandersteg
If you fancy stepping back in time to the grand old days of the Belle Epoque then you need to take a trip to Kandersteg in Switzerland in January. Every year, for one whole week the town goes back to the late 1800s and people dress up in the outfits from the era and a huge number of events are laid on.
It’s not just the adults but the children who get dressed up in period costume too. In fact whole families dress up and all join in the fun.
There is a special steam train that arrives to bring people into the town in style on the first day.
There are sledge rides, processions through the town and even marching bands.
So if you fancy a trip back to the good old days of the Belle Epoque make sure to visit Kandersteg at the end of January.
