Hublot Creates Luxury All Black Watch with Takashi Murakami
Hublot recently announced its collaboration with Japanese Artist Takashi Murakami. Murakami, who is famous for his “superflat” creations and his “smiling flower” logo. The Luxury Swiss Watch manufacturer’s new watch is known as the “Classic Fusion All Black”.
Ricardo Guadalupe, who is chief executive of Hublot, made the video announcement in Nyon in Switzerland, whilst Takashi remained in Tokyo. Takashi is renowned for “blurring the lines” between fine art and commerce, and is a big fan of black – which are also very similar to Hublot’s ideologies. When travelling was still possible, Takashi was able to visit the Hublot watchmaking plant in Switzerland. Seeing their passion and dedication to detail (as well as enjoying their very impressive in-house dining facilities!) convinced Takashi to go forward with the collaboration.
If you’re interested in buying one of the new creations you had better be quick as only 200 pieces are being made of this Limited Edition. Inspired by a flower, the Classic Fusion Murakami All Black is priced at CHF 25,900.
Though encrusted with diamonds, the petals remain free-spinning, bringing both animation and art together in one outstanding timepiece. The watch as its name implies, is all black, but stunningly designed with lots of texture, movement and detail. Set with 456 black diamonds, and an additional 107 black diamonds on the watch’s face, it is also equipped with a Unico movement.
The watch is a limited edition and only 200 pieces will be produced. The recommended retail price in Switzerland is CHF 25,900.
