Pop Up Chalet of Mirrors in the Alps Gstaad – Le Mirage
Whether you visit in Summer or Winter the extraordinary art piece called “Le Mirage”, a house made of mirrors in the Alps near Gstaad is definitely worth seeing. Designed by artist Doug Aitken it spent 2017 in the desert in Palm Springs and 2018 in Detroit.
Wherever it is, this unique artwork reflects its surroundings and becomes an integral part of its environment.
Part of the Elevation 1049 Exhibition in Gstaad
In 2019 it moved to Gstaad for the Elevation 1049 exhibition for 2 years and it will remain there until the end of March 2021. In the Winter it reflected all the snow in the alps, changing all the time with the weather conditions. With all the Summer flowers all around it also blends in, becoming part of the alpine Summer pastures.
Free Entry to Chalet of Mirrors
Entrance to the Chalet is free of charge and you can go inside and be dazzled by the light and the reflections. Le Mirage is a unique installation in a very beautiful part of the Swiss Alps. Do catch it while you can.
We visited it last in late Summer and it is a fun experience for all the family. It doesn’t take long to see it and the walk is about 10 minutes or so from the nearest car park. If you’re visiting Gstaad before 31st March 2021 it is worth a visit! See all the relevant information below.
