On May 6th 2023, the coronation of King Charles III will take place in London. This historic event will surely be a momentous occasion, whether you’re a royal follower or not. Here’s what you can expect from King Charles III’s coronation.

The King and Camilla, will proceed from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey in The King’s Procession. The coronation will begin at 11:00 am with the King swearing allegiance and promising to defend the law and protect the Church. The Archbishop of Canterbury will then use holy oil to anoint the monarch and place the St. Edward’s Crown on King Charles III’s head. After that, the King will move from the Coronation Chair to the throne, where peers will kneel before him to pay homage.

During the ceremony, 12 newly-commissioned pieces of music will be performed. They include a new anthem by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the composer of Cats the musical! If you’re in the UK and want to celebrate King Charles III’s coronation, you can join in many of the street parties and afternoon tea parties taking place throughout the country.
